School of Business Achieves AACSB Accreditation

CNU is pleased to announce that the nation's top business accrediting organization, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), has awarded the CNU School of Business prestigious international accreditation.

CNU Family Grieves
Freshman Grace Lovegrove died on January 12, 2005, after going into cardiac arrest earlier in the week during a training run with her CNU cross country teammates. CNU and Grace's family have established the Grace Meredyth Lovegrove Scholarship in her honor. Donations can be made to the CNU Advancement Office, Attn:   Grace Meredyth Lovegrove Scholarship, Christopher Newport University, 1 University Place, Newport News, VA 23606 or online.

Alumni Harris Directory Survey
The Office of Alumni Relations has contracted with Harris Publishing to produce a directory of our alumni. An email was recently sent to alumni asking you to update your information online. Your ID number was listed in that email.  

Desperately seeking a vacation!
The Alumni Society is once again sponsoring its Vacation Scholarship Silent Auction on April 2, 2005, to benefit three student scholarships in the Fine and Performing Arts. Many exciting vacation possibilities are up for auction. If you own a vacation home, a timeshare, or even have frequent flyer/hotel points and would like to donate a week's stay or miles to the auction, please email the Office of Alumni Relations. Your donation can help us make a difference in the life of a student.  

New Vice President for Advancement
Nancy Willson, a veteran fundraiser with strong national experience, has been named the new vice president for university advancement.

Discover Diversity
The Office of Multicultural Affairs announces the spring 2005 Diversity Scholar Series. The series opens on February 9 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center, room 150, with a discussion of racial relations and insight into the workings and ideologies of the Ku Klux Klan. Preparing for Life After CNU
The Alumni Society and the Senior Class are presenting monthly seminars to prepare graduating seniors for life after college.   On February 15, representatives from Wachovia Bank discuss Managing Your Money at 7 p.m. in The Freeman Center President's Room.

Wildlife photographer Tom Ulrich, whose work has appeared in National Geographic, will lecture on animal behavior and photo techniques at CNU on Monday, February 7, at 7 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium.

Catherine Celli Kurchinski '99 recently published a children's picture book on the history of Yoder Barn in Newport News. "Hurray for the Yoder Barn!" is a true story about the Yoder family, their dairy business and their beloved barn.

CNU ATHLETICS Sports Shorts

Captain Chris Christopher Newport's baseball team was picked to finish second in the 2005 USA South Preseason poll voted on by the coaches.

The men's basketball team came away with a 60-51 win over Averett Wednesday night.

The women's basketball team held off a late rally by the visiting Lady Cougars for a 72-65 USA South win Wednesday night, the third straight win for the Lady Captains.

The CNU Athletic Department keeps you updated with scores and highlights of your favorite CNU teams.
