John H. Chichester, President pro tempore of the
Virginia Senate and Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee,
will speak to the graduates at Winter
Commencement on December
18.

D.C. for a reception at the Tower Club at Tyson's Corner. Parents Council
Co-Chairs Michael and Patty Martin hosted the event for Northern Virginia parents.

Basketball
Basketball season begins on November 20 with a men's
home game against Lake
Erie College. Women's
Basketball begins on November 21 with a home game
against Mary Baldwin College. Season
tickets are on sale now.
Cross-Country
Cross-country team swept the men's and women's Runner, Rookie and Coach of the Year
honors. Sophomore Cary Chaffee was named USA South Men's Runner
of the Year while freshman Jay Wyss was named USA South Men's Rookie
of the Year.
Soccer
Galen
Small's goal in the 96th minute gave the CNU
men's soccer team a 2-1 overtime victory at Mary
Washington.
Football
CNU's
football team rode the back of running back Roland
Hilliard to a 24-10 victory over Methodist, which was
unbeaten in the conference.

Dr. Kara
Keeling, associate professor, Department of English, was recently
elected to a two-year term as the Secretary of the Children's Literature
Association. In June 2007, CNU will host the annual Children's Literature
Association conference. Several major children's literature writers and
illustrators will conduct presentations and book signings. Approximately
250 scholars and teachers will participate in the conference.
