After lightning sparked a fire that damaged Madison Hall on Aug. 4, individuals and organizations throughout the campus and surrounding area offered to help the approximately 80 displaced students. CNU staff members and volunteers made sure that all students were safe and had a place to stay. They worked to retrieve the students’ possessions and ensure they were returned to the proper owners. Staff members also kept the students, their families and the community informed after the fire.

Community members donated clothing, food and toiletries for the students in the first days after the fire, then the University established a fund for monetary donations through support from local banks and credit unions. Donations are still being accepted to help the displaced students as well as for any future emergencies.
